AFP-ND Applauds the Senate’s Actions to Eliminate Blue Laws

Mar 19, 2019 by AFP

BISMARCK, ND—Americans for Prosperity-North Dakota (AFP-ND) today released a statement applauding the state Senate for its passage of HB 1097, which would eliminate so-called “blue laws” in North Dakota. AFP-ND has been active in supporting this effort through grassroots engagement, lobbying efforts, and an accompanying digital advertisement campaign.

AFP-ND State Director Mike Fedorchak issued the following statement:

“We are excited to see our lawmakers remove barriers and join the rest of the country in eliminating blue laws in North Dakota. These outdated regulations cause major inconveniences to both consumers and businesses. We appreciate the strides our Senators made for all North Dakotans by passing HB 1097 today.”

Background:

Currently, retail businesses are prohibited from opening before noon on Sundays. Since 1997, North Dakota remains the only state to keep blue laws on the books.
