AFP-Iowa Applauds Trump Administration’s Nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh

DES MOINES, IA – Americans for Prosperity-Iowa (AFP-IA) supports the Trump Administration’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia with bipartisan support.

Americans for Prosperity-Iowa State Director Drew Klein issued the following statement:

“The President kept his promise to nominate jurists who will faithfully protect the fundamental freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. Judge Kavanaugh is a well-qualified jurist whose record indicates he will interpret the Constitution as written and will not legislate from the bench. AFP-Iowa thanks Senator Grassley for his outstanding legacy on judges and his coming efforts to ensure a swift confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh.”

Brett Kavanaugh, a graduate of Yale Law School and former clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy, received bipartisan support in 2006 for his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. During his 12 years on the federal bench, Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law and is widely respected for his principled approach to interpreting the Constitution as written.

AFP-IA will activate activists in the coming weeks to educate fellow Iowans about the proper role of the courts and the importance of confirming jurists who will interpret the Constitution as written.
