AFP-GA state director Stephen Allison issued the following statement:

“It’s no secret that Georgians’ need better access to more affordable health care. Soon, State Representatives will vote on SB 106, a bill that would expand Medicaid. Supporters of this expansion believe that this would right the wrongs of our health care system, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Expanding Medicaid actually diverts care from those who truly need it while increasing state spending. AFP-GA urges the General Assembly to consider better alternatives to improving access to our health care system for all Georgians by passing commonsense solutions like expanding telemedicine, implementing Direct Primary Care and pairing back our outdated scope of practice laws. We urge the State Representatives to support expanding access to health care for all Georgians rather than support Medicaid Expansion.”
