AFP-FL Applauds Appropriations Committee for Passing Red-Tape Reduction

Feb 6, 2018 by AFP

Tallahassee, FL – Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) is applauding the members of the House Appropriations Committee for voting “Yes” on H.B. 791 by Representative Manny Diaz. This bill would establish the Red Tape Advisory Council whose body will serve the state by digging through the Florida Administrative Code to identify rules that are duplicative, obsolete, especially burdensome, disproportionately harm small businesses. The legislation would also encourage agencies to be more judicious with their writing of future rules, as the proposal also introduces a ceiling on the number of regulatory requirements that would limit the introduction of future agency rules.

Americans pay more for the high cost of regulation than they do in taxes. It’s time for Florida entrepreneurs and small businesses to take control of their futures, and it will be thanks to legislation sponsored by champions for economic freedom like Rep. Diaz. We commend the members of the Appropriations Committee. We hope the full house passes the measure quickly and look forward to working with the Florida Senate to pass the measure to the Governor’s desk to become law.”

AFP-FL began the year with a robust direct mail campaign thanking Senator Keith Perry and Representative Manny Diaz for sponsoring bold legislation to help reduce the burdensome levels of red tape Florida entrepreneurs have been battling against.  AFP-FL will score votes on H.B. 791 in the group’s annual Economic Freedom Scorecard.
