ARLINGTON, Va. – Today Americans for Prosperity (AFP) announced the organization’s endorsements of four highly qualified candidates nominated by President Trump to fill judicial vacancies on U.S. Appeals and Circuit Courts across the country. AFP is proud to endorse Neomi Rao, Allison Rushing, Patrick Bumatay and Ken Lee for confirmations to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Fourth Circuit, and Ninth Circuit, respectively.
Americans for Prosperity Spokesman Bill Riggs had this to say:
“President Trump deserves credit for nominating these highly qualified individuals who will interpret the law as written and won’t attempt to legislate from the bench. We’re confident that Neomi Rao, Allison Rushing, Patrick Bumatay and Ken Lee will be impartial jurists committed to upholding the Constitution and rejecting the harmful trend of partisan activism in the Judiciary. The Senate Judiciary Committee should vote these nominations out of committee and to the Senate floor as soon as possible where we urge Senators to support their confirmation.”
Neomi Rao is the Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. She has previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Allison Rushing is a partner at Williams and Connolly LLP and has previously clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas, Judge Neil Gorsuch on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and former D.C. Circuit Chief Judge David Sentelle.
Patrick Bumatay currently serves as Counselor to the Attorney General, Office of the Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice, has previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California, and clerked for Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ken Lee is a partner at Jenner and Block LLP, has previously clerked for Judge Emilio Garza on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, was Special Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, and Associate Counsel to the United States President (2006-2009.)
