AFP Applauds House Education and Workforce Committee for Advancing Resolution to Overturn Biden’s Student Loan Bailout

May 11, 2023 by AFP

ARLINGTON, VA—Americans for Prosperity (AFP) applauds the House Committee on Education and the Workforce for advancing the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution overturning Biden’s unconstitutional student loan bailout. The resolution would immediately reverse the Biden Administration’s disastrous plan to transfer hundreds of billions of dollars in student loan debt to taxpayers who never took a student loan or who paid their loans back. The skyrocketing costs of higher education and the massive debt burden on students are a serious problem that should be addressed, but the Biden Administration’s student loan bailout ignores the root of the problem and instead ultimately pushes costs even higher.

Americans for Prosperity’s Vice President Akash Chougule said:

“The Biden Administration continues to blatantly disregard the Constitution and is pushing a politically motivated policy that will cost American families between $500 billion and $650 billion and unfairly target the two-thirds of Americans who do not have a college degree, forcing them to subsidize the small portion of the population with outstanding student debt. We applaud Chairwoman Foxx and the members of the Committee for their leadership and look forward to seeing this vote on the House floor.”
