ARLINGTON, Va. – Americans for Prosperity today announced support for eight members of the U.S. House of Representatives for their active leadership on policies critical to removing barriers to opportunity and improving people’s lives: Rep. Rod Blum (IA-1), Rep. Dave Brat (VA-7), Rep. Ted Budd (NC-13), Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-1), Rep. Will Hurd (TX-23), Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-3), Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-6), and David Young (IA-3). AFP will fully activate its grassroots infrastructure through phone banks and neighborhood canvassing, as well as deploy targeted digital, mail, and radio advertising.
Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips last month signaled the organization’s intention to raise the bar to find and support policy champions who have the courage to stand for principled positions, even when it’s not politically convenient to do so. Each of these House lawmakers have demonstrated strong leadership on a number of AFP’s top policy priorities, such as supporting sensible criminal justice reforms, expanding access to more affordable health care, restoring fiscal sanity to our budgets, eliminating burdensome regulations, standing up for free trade, driving a permanent solution for Dreamers, and getting our veterans the care they deserve.
AFP President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:
“While Americans for Prosperity is committed to opposing politicians who actively work to defeat good policies, we are proud to stand with lawmakers who champion legislation that helps improve people’s lives. The candidates we are supporting this fall have each been strong, principled leaders committed to removing barriers to opportunity in the federal government that are preventing people from realizing their full potential. As we work to build progress in Washington, we will continue our pursuit of policy majorities that will move our country in the right direction by supporting leaders like these.”
