Jackson, MS — Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity-Mississippi (AFP-MS) presented U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith with the “Pioneers for Prosperity” award at the AFP-MS office in Ridgeland, recognizing her leadership in Congress in advancing policies that put Mississippi taxpayers first.

The award recognizes outstanding legislators who turn free-market ideas from the grassroots into policy. Award consideration looked beyond voting records to an official’s year-round presence and engagement with constituents in the state. Senator Hyde-Smith has consistently voted to curb federal overreach and spearheaded efforts that will ultimately benefit the state’s farmers, ranchers, and small businesses.

AFP-MS State Director, Starla Brown, released the following statement:

“Senator Hyde-Smith embodies what the “Pioneers for Prosperity” award stands for. She takes the ideas of Mississippi’s entrepreneurs, farmers, and families and fights for them in Washington. Her sustained push for economic growth and tax relief delivered wins for our state’s farmers, ranchers, and small businesses, and continues to engage with the communities she represents in the Magnolia State. That’s the kind of leadership that turns grassroots principles into real policy, and we are proud to honor her with this award.”

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith said:

“We’re facing enormous changes in our economy, and we can’t afford policies that put more power in the hands of Democrats and socialists who will only implement more burdensome regulations and increase taxes at a time when our great nation needs economic prosperity to compete with our adversaries. This is no time to play with big-government, socialist policies. I commend Americans for Prosperity for its focus on unleashing American energy and making it easier to build the infrastructure our communities need.”
