AFP-OH Applauds General Assembly Passage of Medicaid Integrity Reforms

COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) today applauded the Ohio General Assembly’s passage of Senate Bill 315, legislation that strengthens Medicaid oversight, increases transparency, and protects taxpayer dollars.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil issued the following statement:

“Today’s vote is a win for Ohio taxpayers and the vulnerable Ohioans Medicaid was designed to serve.

S.B. 315 strengthens accountability, improves transparency, and provides state officials with better tools to identify and stop fraud before taxpayer dollars are wasted. Protecting the integrity of Medicaid helps ensure resources remain available for those who truly depend on the program.

“AFP-OH was proud to support these reforms from start to finish. Throughout the legislative process, AFP-OH was the only organization to both testify in person in support of the legislation and mobilize grassroots advocates to support lawmakers advancing these reforms.

“At a time when many policy debates happen behind closed doors, this effort demonstrated the value of combining principled policy advocacy with citizen engagement to achieve meaningful results for Ohio taxpayers.

“We thank the legislative leaders and policy champions who worked to advance these reforms and look forward to their implementation.”

AFP-OH actively supported the legislation throughout the process, including issuing a Key Vote Alert urging lawmakers to vote in favor of the reforms.

The legislation includes enhanced verification requirements for in-home care services, expanded auditing authority, stronger fraud detection measures, increased public reporting, and tougher penalties for Medicaid fraud.
