ATLANTA, GA – Americans for Prosperity-Georgia (AFP-GA) applauds Governor Brian Kemp for signing HB 987 into law, allowing for companies and individuals to contribute to portable benefit accounts for self-employed workers. These worker-owned accounts would be managed by a bank or third-party provider and would support benefits like health insurance premiums, paid time off, and retirement savings.
AFP-GA State Director Tony West released the following statement:
“Thank you Governor Kemp for recognizing the value of voluntary portable benefits and signing this legislation into law. Georgia’s laws should empower residents to choose the work that best fits their families’ needs.
