NASHVILLE- Americans for Prosperity Tennessee (AFP-TN) celebrated the reforms made to Senate Bill 1585 (HB1881) by the Tennessee Legislature this afternoon, in yet another game-changing win for School Choice. Reforms made in the bill remove excessive testing requirements to Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) participants. National norm reference testing is already conducted and aligned with nonpublic school curriculum.
AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:
“These reforms remove barriers to school choice by removing unaligned, high-stakes testing from the ESA program that kept families from applying and schools from accepting Education Savings Accounts. Families and schools don’t want or need more testing, just a shot to receive and deliver a quality education in whatever form suits the needs of the child.”
