Baton Rouge, LA – Americans for Prosperity–Louisiana (AFP-LA) is celebrating a major step forward for educational opportunity after House Bill 1 (HB1) passed out of the House Appropriations Committee, including $87 million in funding for the Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) program.
AFP-LA has been a staunch advocate for expanding education freedom in Louisiana. The advancement of HB1 marks meaningful progress in delivering on Governor Jeff Landry’s commitment to expand school choice and empower Louisiana families with more education options tailored to their children’s individual learning styles and goals.
AFP-LA State Director Scott Simon released the following statement:
“School choice is moving forward in Louisiana, and yesterday’s committee passage of HB1 is an important step forward for families across our state. With $87 million dedicated to LA GATOR, lawmakers are helping deliver on the promise to expand opportunity and put parents back in the driver’s seat of their children’s education.
“Every child is unique, and they deserve an education that meets their individual needs. Expanding LA GATOR means more students will have access to learning environments that inspire them, engage them, and set them up for success. We look forward to continued progress as this legislation moves forward.”
