Trenton, NJ—Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and Jersey 1st applaud Governor Sherrill and a bipartisan group of New Jersey lawmakers for advancing S-3870, legislation that updates the state’s permitting framework for nuclear energy facilities and opens the door to expanded, reliable energy production.
This legislation lifts a decades-old, 40-year moratorium on nuclear energy. By removing outdated barriers and unnecessary red tape, New Jersey is opening the door to new, reliable energy development and sending a clear message that the state is open for business.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly and Rosemary Becchi, Jersey 1st President and Founder, said:
“S-3870 is exactly the kind of commonsense, bipartisan progress we need to address the region’s growing energy challenges. New Jersey is positioning itself to meet growing demand, support economic growth, and deliver more affordable, reliable power to families and businesses. But more work must be done to ensure the Garden State can fully achieve energy abundance.
“States across the region should take note of this bipartisan effort to advance real energy solutions. AFP and Jersey 1st encourage New Jersey lawmakers to continue building on this momentum by advancing policies that expand access to all forms of reliable energy, reduce costs, and foster innovation.”
