AFP-OH Urges House Passage of Regulatory Sandbox Program

Mar 25, 2026 by AFP

COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) urged the state House of Representatives to pass a “universal regulatory sandbox” program (H.B. 176) on Wednesday to foster innovation in Ohio-based industries by temporarily waiving regulatory requirements.

The program would make Ohio one of only a handful of states in the country to allow for participating businesses to experiment and create new products and services that would otherwise not be allowed under current regulations. AFP-OH issued a “key vote alert” to House members on Wednesday morning, noting that their votes will be included on its 2026 legislative scorecard.

Donovan O’Neil, AFP-OH state director, gave the following statement:

“Ohio has always been the bedrock of American industry and innovation, but that legacy is at risk if we allow burdensome regulations to stifle new ideas. Creating a regulatory sandbox is a critical step forward in empowering businesses and entrepreneurs to take risks and create the next technological revolution.”
