Providence, RI — Americans for Prosperity (AFP) applauds the introduction of S-2672, a proposal introduced by Rhode Island Senate Minority Leader de la Cruz, which would implement a 2% reduction in personal income tax rates every year for five years.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“Senator de la Cruz’s introduction of S-2672 marks a step in the right direction to providing Rhode Islanders with a clear affordability agenda. Through a phased reduction, taxpayers would see more of their hard-earned money each month and decide for themselves how to spend, save, and invest in their families’ futures.
“Policies like S-2672 work and ensure families and businesses can thrive. Currently, nine states have zero income tax, including just 100 miles away in New Hampshire, and several other states are incrementally reducing income taxes this year. The policy of low taxes and small government has made the Granite State the economic beacon in New England; there is no reason Rhode Island can’t do the same.
“AFP applauds the Senator for putting forward a proposal that will make Rhode Island a better place to work, invest, and live.”
