MONTGOMERY, AL – On Wednesday, Americans for Prosperity-Alabama (AFP-AL) partnered with the Alabama Policy Institute (API) to host Education Freedom Day, a school choice celebration, at the Alabama State House.
AFP-AL State Director Adam Thompson issued the following statement:
“Education Freedom Day was a true celebration of how school choice has changed the lives of many Alabama children. Students today have more educational options than ever before, including charter schools, microschools, and tax credit scholarships. Additionally, the CHOOSE Act passed in 2024 allows families to use education savings accounts on non-public education options like private schools and tutoring. It is crucial that we continue to empower families to choose the school option that best fits their children’s needs, and today was a great day to join with students and lawmakers to highlight that! We are especially grateful to Governor Kay Ivey, Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth, and Rep. Danny Garrett for joining us for this celebration.”
API President and CEO Stephanie Smith added, “We were truly proud to co-host Education Freedom Day with AFP. Together, we enjoyed welcoming advocates and students from across the state to celebrate school choice in Alabama!”
