AFP-IN and Community Partners Celebrate Victory for Taxpayers as Northwest Allen County Referendum Fails

Fort Wayne, IN – Americans for Prosperity–Indiana (AFP-IN) and its coalition of community partners are celebrating the results of tonight’s special election, where voters in Northwest Allen County rejected the proposed $12 million operating referendum that would have raised property taxes on families already facing higher costs.

This outcome reflects the power of grassroots engagement and the shared conviction that Hoosiers deserve real solutions, not higher taxes.

Tyler Turnwald, AFP-IN Grassroots Engagement Director, issued the following statement:

“Tonight’s result is a win for hardworking Hoosier families who said enough is enough. Voters recognized that raising taxes is not the answer to every challenge. They want leaders who respect taxpayers, spend responsibly, and prioritize students and teachers instead of bureaucracy.

“This victory belongs to the local volunteers, community members, and families who knocked on doors, made phone calls, and talked with their neighbors about the need for responsible leadership and practical reform. Their dedication and heart made all the difference.”

AFP-IN and its community partners remain committed to working with local leaders to pursue sustainable education reforms that strengthen schools, support teachers, and protect taxpayers from unnecessary burdens.
