Columbus, OH – Americans for Prosperity–Ohio (AFP–OH) today issued the following statement after the Ohio House passed House Bill 186 and House Bill 335, two key measures to provide lasting property tax relief and greater transparency for taxpayers. HB 186 caps school district property tax increases at the rate of inflation, preventing sudden spikes and adding predictability for property owners. HB 335, the Property Tax Relief Now Act, eliminates unvoted inside millage and requires new transparency measures for local governments. AFP-Ohio placed a Key Vote Alert on both pieces of legislation and may include it on our final 136th General Assembly scorecard.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:

“Today’s vote marks an important win for Ohio families. Lawmakers are responding to what taxpayers have been saying for years: property tax reform must be simple, transparent, and fair. By advancing these bills, the House is putting Ohioans back in control of their own tax bills.

“We appreciate the leadership it took to move these reforms forward. The Senate now has an opportunity to finish the job and make Ohio a model for responsible, voter-driven tax policy.”
