AFP-OH: After 10 Government Shutdowns, Rep. Kaptur Still Hasn’t Learned

Columbus, OH – Today, Americans for Prosperity–Ohio (AFP-OH) continued its call for Ohio’s Democrat members of Congress to support a clean continuing resolution, reopen the federal government, and put an end to Washington’s partisan games.

With 42 years in Congress and 10 government shutdowns on her watch, Rep. Kaptur has had ample opportunity to be a voice of reason. Instead, Ohioans are watching history repeat itself as partisan politics once again stand in the way of commonsense governance. Recent polling from AFP shows that 61% of Americans agree that shutdowns are bad for Congress’s ability to help the country succeed, yet Marcy Kaptur is once again choosing to hold our government captive.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:

“It is astonishing that Marcy Kaptur has been in Congress for 42 years and still manages to fail to be a voice of reason among elected officials. Rep. Kaptur is a veteran of 10 government shutdowns, yet she still hasn’t come to the conclusion to vote for a clean funding bill.

“Senators Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted are demonstrating proper leadership by standing up for taxpayers and getting Ohio back to the normal order of business. Rep. Kaptur remains part of the problem.”
