SPRINGFIELD, IL – Today, Americans for Prosperity–Illinois (AFP-IL) is calling on Illinois’ Democrat members of Congress to support a clean continuing resolution, reopen the federal government, and put an end to Washington’s partisan games. Recent polling from AFP shows that 61% of Americans agree that shutdowns are bad for Congress’s ability to help the country succeed.
AFP-IL State Director Jason Heffley released the following statement:
“It is time for Senators Durbin and Duckworth to put an end to the partisan games and do what’s right for the people of Illinois: vote to reopen the federal government with a clean continuing resolution.
“This isn’t just about political gridlock in Washington — it’s about real consequences for real people – with thousands of families and small businesses facing the uncertainty of whether critical resources will stay open. A clean continuing resolution is not a partisan demand — it’s a responsible one.
“Senator Durbin and Senator Duckworth need to do the right thing for their constituents and vote for a clean continuing resolution.”
AFP-IL will continue to hold elected leaders accountable until Washington delivers the commonsense solutions that hardworking Illinoisans deserve.
