Unleash America’s potential — Make energy abundant

Sep 17, 2025 by AFP

Our economy is rapidly changing.

New technologies like AI are altering how we work, learn, and live. Now, we have huge opportunities to build a better, more successful future for every American.

But there’s a big problem.

Outdated, nonsensical, and complicated regulations are making it too hard to build the infrastructure we need to fuel this new economy.

Both Republicans and Democrats agree on the problem, and there’s a window of opportunity to fix it.

[Here’s the roadmap to unleash America’s potential]

Americans for Prosperity is working to make sure it happens.

We’re making a grassroots push to destroy unnecessary regulatory barriers and make it easier to build the infrastructure by reforming our broken permitting process.

For America to thrive, we need more energy.

With the AI revolution happening before our eyes, we will need more energy to power it. Lots of it.

Here’s why:

  • Data centers, which are key to AI, consume almost twice as much energy per square foot as a typical commercial building.
  • When you add the energy demands from our factories, businesses, homes, and electric cars, it’s clear we’ll need to expand our energy capacities fast.

But outdated regulations and red tape are holding us back. On average, federal agencies take nearly three years to complete an Environmental Impact Statement.

Three years. Just to get one report.

That’s unacceptable.

Our plan to make energy abundant

We have the resources, technology, and (most importantly) the people to power the American economy to a brighter future.

We just need to implement the right policies. At AFP, we have one commonsense solution that will get us there.

Streamlining the permitting process.

Energy projects shouldn’t be stuck for years, with workers and investment sitting idle as everyone waits for a bureaucrat to greenlight them.

With energy demands forecasted to rise at an even higher rate, we can’t afford the continuing delays.

That’s why we need to:

  • Eliminate the multiagency bottleneck we have today, where countless bureaucrats from different agencies conspire to complicate the permitting process.
  • Make our permitting process easier to understand, with clear, predictable rules and timelines.

Lawmakers from both parties know we need to solve this problem if we want to have a successful, prosperous future.

There’s a perfect opportunity to get real reform passed through Congress.

And at AFP, we’re taking this opportunity.

We’re making permitting reform happen.

We’re hitting the road.

We’re starting the “Road to Prosperity,” a cross-country tour where we’ll hold events and site visits at the very places that have been hit hard by red tape.

And we’re also on the Hill talking with lawmakers about the importance of passing permitting reform to boost the economy.

Watch a video from House Majority Leader Steve Scalise here:

AFP is deploying its powerful, nationwide grassroots audience to get Congress to act so they put people first and unleash American energy.

And we need people like you to raise your voice and join us.

Sign this petition and tell Congress to pass permitting reform.

Let’s get to work.
