MADISON, WI — In the early hours of the morning, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4: Rescissions Act of 2025, advancing a $9 billion spending cut to President Trump’s desk for signature. Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin applauds both the House and Senate for acting swiftly to rein in wasteful federal spending and thanks President Trump for leading the charge to put taxpayers first.
With over $7 trillion in total federal spending and average annual deficits of $1.9 trillion over the last five years, cutting $9 billion is a necessary—though modest—move toward getting the nation’s fiscal house in order.
AFP-Wisconsin State Director Megan Novak issued the following statement:
“This is a welcome step forward. Washington’s out-of-control spending has real consequences for Wisconsin families in the form of inflation, higher interest rates, and long-term economic uncertainty.
“Rescinding $9 billion is a start, but it barely scratches the surface. AFP-Wisconsin will continue working to ensure Congress builds on this momentum with bigger, bolder reforms that deliver real savings for taxpayers.
“Wisconsin deserves leaders who will make responsible choices and respect every dollar hardworking families send to Washington.”
