AFP Launches Bold, Multi-Year Initiative to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary by Reaffirming Our Founding Principles
ARLINGTON, VA— This week – in advance of America’s 250th anniversary and on the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon –Americans for Prosperity will be launching a new campaign celebrating the historic achievements made possible by our nation’s founding ideals of freedom and opportunity for all.
The campaign, titled “One Small Step,” will be a bold, multi-year initiative to build a movement to defend our founding principles and reignite the American Dream. By spotlighting stories of American visionaries, inventors, and entrepreneurs who had the courage to pursue their dreams, and in the process, transformed society, AFP will remind Americans that every giant leap begins with one small step.
“250 years ago, our American Revolution was sparked by a handful of everyday people who stood up for liberty and introduced the American pioneering spirit that defines our country and changed the world forever,” said AFP President and CEO Emily Seidel. “This is our rallying cry to mobilize Americans across the country to take action on issues that matter most to their communities—from the economy and education to healthcare and civil liberties.”
“Americans don’t sit on the sidelines. We get involved and change our communities, our country, and the world. At AFP, we know that making an impact starts with one small step – whether that’s one conversation, training, phone call, forum, rally, meeting, town hall, or letter,” Seidel continued.
The launch of the campaign will feature two marquee videos reminding Americans of our nation’s greatest achievements and showing how each success story started with a decision to be part of something bigger than themselves.
AFP will leverage these stories and others to educate, inspire and recruit champions of freedom to lead the future of the limited government movement, as well as highlight the small first steps taken by current AFP volunteers that opened the door to expanded freedom and opportunity in their communities. By harnessing the power and reach of AFP’s state chapters, the “One Small Step” campaign will empower people across the country with the resources to take bold action.
The first major activation will be “250,000 Steps for Freedom” – a challenge to every AFP state chapter to generate 250,000 actions to promote policies that advance the freedom and opportunity envisioned by the Founders. Each digital action, letter, door knock, or phone call are all examples of the steps that every individual can take to make a difference in their community and help transform our country for the better. The campaign will also feature a new website, TakeOneSmallStep.com, where visitors can learn more about small steps that led to positive change in communities across the country. The site will highlight how by partnering with AFP, one voice becomes many, and a collection of thousands of small steps can become a movement.
