Columbia, SC—As the legislative session draws near its final days, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is urgently calling upon the House to concur the Senate’s passage of S. 62 so students in the current Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) program do not lose valuable time in their learning journey.

AFP-SC has long called for a universal school choice program in the state but highlighted the passage of S. 62 still provides transformational steps in South Carolina’s ESTF program. The recent bill amendments ensure 85% of South Carolina families will qualify for the program, making the pathway to education models that work best for each learner more accessible for families.

AFP-SC State Director, Matt Humm, said:

“It has been a long journey, but we must ensure the House finalizes our school choice bill so valuable time isn’t lost for students in our current ESTF program and future spots are opened for even more families in our state. We’re pleased with the Senate’s bill as it still has a big impact for our education model but hope to grow the program yearly as we work towards a universal program. At AFP-SC we’ll continue to stand with students and parents seeking the best outcomes in education and urge the House to concur this bill without delay.”
