Americans for Prosperity-Texas Endorses Principled Newcomers in 2024 Texas State Legislative Primary Races
Austin, TX – Americans for Prosperity – Texas, the largest grassroots organization in the Lone Star State, proudly announces its endorsement of a select group of candidates who are either vying for open seats or contesting against incumbents in the state legislative primary elections on March 5, 2024. After careful consideration, AFP-TX chose candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to educational choice, border security, and taxpayer interests.
Endorsed Candidates Running for Open Seats or Challenging Incumbents:
- Cody Harris (HD 08 – Incumbent)
- Joanne Shofner (HD 11)
- Alex Kamkar (HD 29)
- Jeff Bauknight (HD 30)
- Hillary Hickland (HD 55)
- Pat Curry (HD 56)
- Marc Lahood (HD 121)
Americans for Prosperity-Texas State Director Genevieve Collins made the following statement:
“We’re strongly supporting these principled candidates because they’ve got the grit and foresight needed to stand up for the Texas values our activist community holds dear. Our endorsed challengers are the real deal for constituents looking for better representation in Austin, especially in the crucial area of educational choice. Their dedication to sound policy that puts parents and taxpayers first puts them in a class of their own. With these principled candidates, we’re on a mission to ensure freedom remains bigger in Texas.
“For those in open seats, we look forward to supporting their leadership on issues regarding border security, continued reduction in property taxes, and ensuring every child has a world-class education through school choice and Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).”
The group announced its endorsement of six outstanding incumbent lawmakers in January.
Americans for Prosperity will support these challengers through targeted activities such as door-knocking, canvassing, making calls, mailers, and digital advertising in the coming weeks.
