With the Government Finally Reopening, Lawmakers Have No Time to Waste

Arlington, VA — With the House’s passage of the latest funding resolution to reopen the government through the end of January, Americans for Prosperity commends Speaker Johnson and Majority Leader Thune for their steadfast leadership and commitment to putting the needs of the American people above partisan politics.

This shutdown—driven by political brinkmanship—placed millions of Americans in difficult circumstances. Families relying on assistance, federal employees missing paychecks, and small businesses dependent on government services all felt the consequences of Washington’s dysfunction.
