Montgomery, AL – Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity–Alabama (AFP-AL) hosted U.S. Representative Barry Moore (AL-01) for a tele-town hall with over 3,000 attendees to discuss the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact on Alabama families and small businesses.
During the discussion, Rep. Moore and AFP-AL highlighted how political gridlock in Washington is hurting hardworking Alabamians and called for commonsense solutions to reopen the government and prevent future shutdowns.
“Democrats cannot continue to play political games at the expense of hardworking Alabama families,” said Rep. Moore. “It’s time to end the political theater, reopen the government, and put in place real reforms that ensure the American people are no longer used as leverage. Fiscal responsibility and accountability are not partisan. They are common sense, and Alabamians deserve nothing less.”
“This shutdown is a direct result of Senate Democrats playing politics with people’s livelihoods,” said Adam Thompson, AFP-AL State Director. “Alabama families deserve better than partisan games that put paychecks, businesses, and essential services at risk. It’s time for Democrats to put politics aside, pass a clean funding bill, and get the government back to work for the people.”
Background:
AFP supports the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, a bill that would require Congress to remain in session until it passes the bills necessary to fund the government, ensuring stability in the government and eliminating shutdowns as a political weapon.
