ICYMI: Rep. Mackenzie, AFP Call on Dems to End Shutdown in Tele-Town Hall

Oct 8, 2025 by AFP

ALLENTOWN, PA – In case you missed it, Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) hosted U.S. Representative Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07) for a tele-town hall with constituents on Tuesday to discuss policy solutions for the federal government shutdown, where he called on Senate Democrats to stop holding the government hostage and pass a funding bill.

“This is day eight of the federal government shutdown, and Pennsylvanians have had enough of the partisan games,” said Emily Greene, AFP-PA state director. “We’re grateful for members like Rep. Mackenzie who didn’t just vote to deliver a clean continuing resolution, but who are urging the Senate to take quick action to get Washington back to work.”

Mackenzie called out Senate Democrats for their “reckless” move to shut down the government, saying that it “directly impacts people’s livelihoods,” as government employees and service members will soon miss paychecks if the Senate can’t strike a deal.

Background:

AFP supports the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, a bill that would require Congress to remain in session until it passes the bills necessary to fund the government, ensuring stability in the government and eliminating shutdowns as a political weapon.
