ICYMI: Americans for Prosperity – Ohio Provided $1500 in Groceries, Equivalent to the Average Ohio Family’s Tax Hike if the TCJA Expires

Apr 4, 2025 by AFP

Norton, OH – Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity – Ohio (AFP-OH), in partnership with the Barberton Area Community Ministries, provided $1,500 worth of groceries to local families, an amount equal to the annual tax increase the average Ohio family will face if Congress fails to extend President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

With cars lined up around the block, AFP-OH showcased what’s at stake if lawmakers allow these crucial tax cuts to expire at the end of the year. The TCJA has saved Ohio families an average of $1,200 to $2,000 per year, keeping more hard-earned money in their pockets.

This event was part of AFP’s national “Protect Prosperity” campaign, which focuses on urging lawmakers to extend the TCJA and prompting pro-growth tax cuts.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:

“Ohioans see the benefits of President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) every day. This landmark bill spearheaded economic growth for hardworking families and small businesses across Ohio. The TCJA has saved the average Ohio family $1,500 a year, making its extension critical for families in the Buckeye State.

“Americans for Prosperity’s top priority is extending the widely successful TCJA. With events like today’s, we are showing taxpayers how much is on the line if Congress fails to act. Our grassroots activists are on the ground, talking with Ohioans and lawmakers to ensure more hard-earned money stays in taxpayers’ pockets.”
