Apr 16, 2025 by AFP

LEHI, UT – In case you missed it, U.S. Representative Burgess Owens (R-UT) joined Americans for Prosperity-Utah (AFP-UT) at their Lehi office for a town hall event on Tax Day yesterday to discuss how extending the Trump tax cuts will benefit hardworking Utahns.

Owens emphasized the importance of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) for Utah’s fast-growing economy and pledged to vote to make the tax cuts permanent before they expire this year. If Congress fails to act in time, the average Utah family’s federal tax bill will be $3,010 higher next year.

AFP-UT State Director Kevin Greene gave the following statement:

“Rep. Owens is a principled free market conservative who knows that Utahns know how to spend their hard-earned dollars better than the federal government. We’re thankful for his time with us last night to hear from our grassroots activists how protecting the TCJA will help them pursue their American Dreams. Together, we’ll make sure Utah leads the charge against the largest tax increase in American history.”

This event was part of AFP’s national Tax Day campaign, aiming to press lawmakers to extend President Trump’s tax cuts, which have provided necessary relief to hardworking families across the country.
