ICYMI: AFP-OH Activists Visit Washington, DC, Urging Lawmakers to Pass Trump Tax Cuts
Columbus, OH – Grassroots activists with Americans for Prosperity (AFP) from across the country traveled to Capitol Hill this week as part of AFP’s ongoing Protect Prosperity campaign, advocating for the extension of President Trump’s tax cuts.
Representing Ohio, AFP State Director Donovan O’Neil met with lawmakers to push for the extension of key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA)—relief that saves the average Ohio family $2,034 per year and helps preserve more than 26,000 jobs across the state. O’Neil also urged members of Congress to pass the White House’s rescissions package to eliminate wasteful federal spending.
AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:
“Ohioans know how to spend their hard-earned money better than Washington does. Making these tax cuts permanent and cutting reckless federal spending are key steps toward a stronger economy and a more accountable government.”
Sen. Jon Husted released the following statement:
“The 2017 tax cuts are pro-growth and pro-family. If we don’t preserve them, a family of four making $80,000 a year will see their taxes rise by $1,700. We need to get this done for hardworking Ohioans and Americans.”
Sen. Bernie Moreno released the following statement:
“The most important item in the One Big Beautiful Bill is making the 2017 tax cuts – the largest middle class tax cut in history – permanent. If Democrats get their way, hardworking American families will see $4 trillion in tax increases.”
The rescissions package is scheduled to pass the House floor today, marking a significant step toward restoring fiscal responsibility.
This federal advocacy builds on AFP-OH’s continued efforts to protect taxpayer dollars and promote economic freedom at the state level. Last month, O’Neil provided proponent testimony before the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee in support of HCR 8, a resolution urging Congress to adopt spending limits and commit to long-term fiscal reform.
