Jackson, MS – In case you missed it, Americans for Prosperity – Mississippi (AFP-MS) led the charge in the Magnolia State on Tuesday, highlighting the urgent need to renew President Trump’s highly successful Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). The events were part of AFP’s nationwide campaign, Protect Prosperity, where more than 60 grassroots events were held in 30 states, focusing on the renewal of the TCJA.

AFP-MS activists took to events across the state but focused its efforts particularly on a rally outside of Jackson’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Taxpayer Assistance Center. In the center of the city, AFP-MS utilized an LED truck billboard to help carry out its message with special attend brought to Congressman Bennie Thompson (MS-02).

AFP-MS State Director, Starla Brown, said:

“It is our strong desire that Rep. Thompson would stand with hardworking families of Mississippi who could face a nearly $1,500 federal tax hike without the TCJA. Our hard-earned dollars are already stretched thin, and Rep. Thompson has the opportunity to ensure long-lasting relief is available for everyone in our state. In Mississippi, we prioritized tax reform on the state level this year and now it’s time to make sure Congress does its part, too. Jobs and the economic wellbeing of families in Mississippi, and across the country, are counting on Members like Rep. Thompson to step up and deliver.”

AFP-MS applauded Mississippi leaders such as U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith who support the TCJA and sent a strong message of its impact for our state.
