ICYMI: AFP-MI, Congressman Barrett Host Roundtable on Tax Relief and Regulatory Reform

BRIGHTON, MI – On Wednesday, Americans for Prosperity–Michigan (AFP-MI), Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07), State Senator Lana Theis (MI-22), Job Creators Network, and Americans for Tax Reform hosted a roundtable event in Brighton, Michigan, to discuss the long-term benefits of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. During the discussion, more than 20 business owners and entrepreneurs shared how the bill’s 20% permanent tax savings have strengthened their ability to grow, invest, and hire. State Senator Lana Theis highlighted the difficulty of advancing people-first policies in Michigan’s Senate, which prioritizes partisan agendas, noting that “we price ourselves out of existence with regulations.”

AFP-MI State Director Tim Golding released the following statement:

“AFP Michigan is grateful for the work Congressman Barrett continues to do in Congress, consistently putting people over party politics through his votes to cut taxes, increase transparency, and reduce federal regulations. His leadership is helping create an environment where businesses can grow and families can keep more of what they earn.

“Last night’s discussion made clear that while tax relief is making a real difference, more must be done. Lawmakers at both the state and federal levels need to remove unnecessary barriers, streamline permitting processes, and rein in excessive regulations that are driving up costs and holding back economic opportunity.”
