Families Hurt, Government Halted — Democrats Must Answer for This Shutdown

Oct 15, 2025 by AFP

Arlington, VA – As the federal government shutdown drags on, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is calling out Democrat leadership in Congress for choosing political brinkmanship over responsible governance. Despite a clear path to keep the government open, Democrat leaders opted to shut it down—ignoring the will of the American people and jeopardizing essential services. In a recent interview with Larry Elder, Kent Strang, Managing Director of Americans for Prosperity said:

“[Senator] Schumer wants to live in a Bidenomics world. He wants to live in the world where Democrats spent 5.5 trillion dollars that resulted in a forty year high inflation, now he wants to go ahead and spend another one and a half trillion. People put an end to that. They voted for Republicans to rein in government spending, to end the waste fraud and abuse. I hope Republicans continue to hold strong against that spending spree that Schumer is advocating for.”

Recent polling confirms the public’s frustration:

A New York Times poll shows 65% of Americans think the Democrats should not shut the government down if their demands are not met.

Americans across the country are voicing their frustration about the government shutdown and the ongoing dysfunction:
