Arlington, VA — Americans for Prosperity today called out Democrats for defending a failing health care system that prioritizes insurance companies over patients. Obamacare promised lower costs — but delivered high premiums, sky-high deductibles, and fewer choices. Everyday Americans deserve better.
The taxpayer-funded subsidies (that Democrats voted to let expire) prop up a failing system that benefits insurance companies — not patients. It’s time to stop subsidizing failure and start putting patients first. Instead of continuing to send billions to big insurance companies, Congress should put that money in the pockets of patients.
AFP Senior Federal Affairs Liaison Lauren Stewart issued the following statement:
Democrats claim they’re protecting patients, but the reality is they’re protecting a system that only benefits big insurance companies. Instead of empowering patients, Democrats cling to a broken status quo riddled with waste and fraud. It’s time to flip the script—take the money out of the hands of special interests and put it directly into tax-free Health Savings Accounts that patients own and control. That’s real reform, and that’s how we restore choice and affordability in healthcare.
Americans for Prosperity supports reforms that empower patients, not bureaucrats or special interests:
Americans for Prosperity urges lawmakers to reject the status quo and embrace reforms that put patients in charge of their health care decisions.
