ARLINGTON, VA — As Congress prepares to vote on a procedural motion to reinstate Affordable Care Act subsidies for another three years, Americans for Prosperity is urging lawmakers to reject yet another expansion of a health care system that has failed to control costs and empower patients.
“Health care costs too much — and Americans know it,” said Dean Clancy, Senior Policy Fellow Americans for Prosperity. “Families are demanding relief, not another blank check for insurance companies.”
Rather than addressing the root causes of rising health care costs, the legislation moving this week would send billions more in taxpayer dollars to health insurers — reinforcing the very system that has driven premiums and out‑of‑pocket costs higher.

“This vote isn’t about reform,” Clancy continued. “It’s about propping up Obamacare — and that approach has only pushed prices up.”
Americans for Prosperity is calling on lawmakers to choose a better path: empowering patients instead of subsidizing insurance companies.
Instead of expanding Obamacare subsidies, Congress should allow every American to access and fully utilize tax‑free Health Savings Accounts — a personal medical wallet that individuals control.
