WASHINGTON, DC – With the House Budget Committee conducting their markup of the reconciliation bill this morning, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is encouraged that the legislation moving forward will include the most important drivers of long-term economic growth and is urging House Members to vote yes and advance the bill to the Senate.
Americans for Prosperity Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement:
“The expiration of the Trump tax cuts at the end of this year is without question the biggest threat to America’s economy and American livelihoods. It is also the biggest opportunity for Republicans to show that they can deliver on their promises and provide a path to long-term economic growth and prosperity.
“The bill that is advancing in the House represents the kind of bold leadership Americans expect and shows Republicans are seizing the opportunity in front of them. Making as many tax cuts permanent as possible will give businesses and families the certainty and peace of mind to invest in themselves, their employees, and the economy. Cutting billions in special interest giveaways, reforming broken programs, and rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse will make our government more efficient, more effective, and more responsible.
“We know that the Senate will also make their voice heard in our process, and we look forward to working with every lawmaker to help send the most pro-growth policy possible to President Trump’s desk. The House has laid a strong foundation to build on, and we urge all House Members to vote yes and move this legislation onto the next stage as soon as possible.”
