Americans for Prosperity–Ohio Voices Support for Vital State House Reforms

Columbus, OH – This week, Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) testified in support of four vital pieces of legislation that provide workers with easier entry into jobs, advance property tax reform, and allow qualified advanced practice health care providers to care for patients.

AFP-OH Legislative Director Hannah Kubbins offered the following statements in her testimony in support of these bills.

H.B. 59:

“House Bill 59 accomplishes what government should do regularly – identifying ways to reduce regulatory burdens or other barriers to entry into the workforce. Decreased fees and red tape provide easier entry into jobs for workers, provide a larger talent pool for small businesses, provide more choices for consumers, and promote a stronger workforce in Ohio.”

H.B. 186:

“HB 186 is another step forward to addressing the ongoing property tax crisis in Ohio. AFP – OH believes the bill protects property owners as well as school districts. Property tax increases for schools will be capped at the rate of inflation, and if taxes rise faster than inflation, qualifying properties will receive automatic reductions. The added transparency measures at the county level also benefit both the taxpayer and school districts by providing clear information about tax rates and deadlines.”

H.B. 335:

“Sub. H. B. No. 335 is a targeted reform that seeks to balance the needs of taxpayers and local governments. By limiting automatic property tax increases, enabling millage reductions with new taxes, and empowering county budget commissions to responsibly steward taxpayer dollars, the bill promotes fairness, transparency, and local control in Ohio’s property tax system.”

H.B. 508:

“[Advanced practice registered nurses] are a valuable source of care for patients, especially those in communities that are clamoring for care. To adequately address Ohio’s dwindling supply of physicians and ever-increasing demand for health care, we must allow qualified advanced practice health care providers to care for patients to the full extent of their training and education.

“AFP-Ohio encourages this committee to pass House Bill 508.”
