AFP’s Tax Day Ads Warn Americans of Massive Tax Hikes Next Year if TCJA Not Renewed

Richmond, VA– Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is launching a seven-figure ad and grassroots campaign highlighting what will be a Tax Day nightmare next year for working families across Virginia if Congress fails to renew the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). This critical legislation has provided essential tax relief to families and small businesses nationwide and is overwhelmingly supported by hardworking Americans.

As Virginia’s legislative session concluded last month, AFP-VA applauds the decision to provide one-time tax refunds to Virginians, returning excess funds to taxpayers who need immediate relief.

AFP-VA State Director Tim Parrish released the following statement:

“The 2017 Trump tax cuts were the most pro-growth tax reform efforts in American history, and AFP was proud to work alongside President Trump and leaders in Congress to give hardworking Americans much needed relief.

“At the end of the year, key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will expire. As a result, the average hardworking family in the Commonwealth will face a $2,600 federal tax hike. Virginia is committed to reminding taxpayers that lawmakers like Reps. Vindman and Subramanyan are standing in the way of extending the Trump tax cuts for Virginia families, workers, and small businesses so they keep more of their hard-earned money.”

This campaign is a continuation of AFP’s $20 million commitment made in January  – the largest investment of any outside limited-government conservative organization in support of a key pillar of President Trump’s agenda. In 2023 and 2024, AFP and AFP Action reached out to nearly 30 million voters.
