Montpelier, VT – Americans for Prosperity is launching an accountability campaign calling out state lawmakers who have supported policies that continue to inflate taxes, increase the cost of living, and bloat the state budget. These policies — promoted by the state’s progressive majority — are in stark contrast to the needs of hardworking Vermonters, who are already burdened by a slew of regulations and escalating housing costs.
This week, AFP held a kickoff event for the accountability campaign – connecting Vermonters to opportunities to thank legislators who supported priority policy efforts during the 2025 session and hold accountable those who opposed key reforms. Following this event, AFP will engage Vermonters through events, digital ads, and hosting town halls across the state to increase awareness of Vermont’s affordability crisis and chart a path forward for greater freedom in the state.
The Vermont Accountability Campaign focuses on the following issues:
AFP Northeast Regional Director Ross Connolly released the following statement:
“Vermont is currently facing one of the worst affordability crises across the nation. Yet, instead of providing relief to Vermonters who are already struggling to make ends meet, the state’s progressive majority has chosen to inflate taxes and increase regulations. The last thing these hardworking families need is lawmakers who ignore the will of the people in order to advance their own radical agenda.
Through this campaign, AFP will unite Vermonters across the state to tell the progressive majority that the Green Mountain State needs leadership that puts families first, not failed policies and rising costs. We are grateful for Governor Scott’s continued commitment to the Vermonters despite the progressive majority and look forward to continuing to work together to promote prosperity for all members of the Green Mountain State.”
