WASHINGTON, DC — This week, Americans for Prosperity state directors and leaders are meeting with Members of Congress in Washington to discuss key policy priorities and advance solutions that expand economic opportunity and long-term prosperity for all Americans.
During the annual Capitol Conference, participants are engaging directly with lawmakers and staff on issues affecting family budgets, affordability, economic growth, health care, American energy, and the future of the American Dream. Building on the momentum of previous years, this year’s conference represents a significant expansion of grassroots engagement on Capitol Hill.
Specifically, AFP will be highlighting its policy agenda to lower costs and provide relief for families and businesses still digging out from decades of reckless spending and harmful regulations. With cost of living top of mind for most voters, AFP will also walk through polling results showing that a focus on these policies will be met with strong support.
With more than 100 meetings scheduled with congressional offices, AFP grassroots leaders are bringing their voices – and the voices of the grassroots — directly to policymakers, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to achieving meaningful policy outcomes through citizen engagement.
“Following the strong engagement we saw last year, this week’s Capitol Conference is about building on that momentum and continuing to elevate the voices of Americans who want policies that expand opportunity and remove barriers to success,” said Brent Gardner, Chief Government Affairs Officer. “With more than 100 meetings set to take place, our state teams are having critical conversations with lawmakers about advancing solutions that strengthen the economy and keep the American Dream within reach. While they’re working in Washington to connect lawmakers to real solutions, our grassroots armies are making calls and knocking doors back in their states and districts to build that critical support at home.”
The Capitol Conference remains a cornerstone of Americans for Prosperity’s efforts to connect grassroots voices with elected officials and ensure that policy discussions in Washington reflect the priorities of communities across the country.
