Americans for Prosperity Encourages Baseball Fans to Reject Stadium Bailout

Apr 3, 2023 by AFP

During opening week, baseball fans should ask our leaders to focus on economic priorities for all Wisconsinites.

MADISON, WI. – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) announced its new billboard overlooking Miller Parkway during opening week of baseball in Milwaukee.

Sam Rogers, AFP-WI Public Affairs Director, made the following statement:

“Governor Evers has prioritized giving taxpayer money to wealthy out-of-state team owners over tackling crucial economic reforms needed in Wisconsin. Instead of prioritizing lower taxes for all Wisconsinites, including the tens of thousands of main street businesses and independent contractors that are the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy, Governor Evers has proposed using $290 million of hard-earned taxpayer dollars for a bailout that benefits a select few at the expense of everyone else.

“Our historic surplus must be returned to the pockets of hardworking Wisconsinites. AFP-WI will continue to work with, educate, and mobilize grassroots activists across the entire state to ensure their voices are heard and their hard-earned tax dollars are protected throughout the budget process.”

For Background:

Studies show public funding for stadiums is a bad idea that isn’t in the best interest of Wisconsin taxpayers. Thousands of Wisconsinites from across the political spectrum have signed our petition demanding Evers support Wisconsinites first, instead of another stadium handout.

AFP-WI rejects Governor Evers’ out-of-control spending and has previously urged the Governor to:

  • Support transformational tax cuts for all working families and main street businesses, making Wisconsin economically competitive for generations.
  • Protect access to quality healthcare by rejecting public option healthcare and choosing the Personal Option.
  • Empower Wisconsin students and families by ensuring all kids have equal opportunities to the education that best suits them by equally funding students regardless of the school doors they walk through.

The Billboard is located at 43.024716, -87.969151 (Hank Aaron State Trail & Miller Parkway) and will be on rotation beginning April 3 through April 9.
