Grassroots group commends lawmakers for breaking impasse, passing budget.

LINCOLN, Nebr.—Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska (AFP-NE), a grassroots advocacy organization in Nebraska with over 45,000 activists across the state, on Tuesday released the following statement after lawmakers passed LB944, the state’s mainline budget bill for 2019:

“AFP-NE commends lawmakers for working to change the tax-and-spend environment in Lincoln,” said Jessica Shelburn, AFP-NE State Director. “Taxpayers know our state needs to get a grip on its finances, and they deserve a government that spends their hard-earned tax dollars wisely. We were pleased to see lawmakers break the filibuster on this bill and send the budget to the governor’s desk. We thank them, and we are hopeful they will build on this momentum of putting Nebraskans first and pass Governor Ricketts’ tax reform proposals as well.”

LB944, a mainline budget adjustment bill now goes to the governor’s desk for his signature.
