Huntsville, AL – Ahead of Labor Day, Americans for Prosperity–Alabama (AFP-AL) volunteers and activists gathered for the organization’s first official State Day of Action, knocking doors across north Alabama to connect with neighbors and identify the issues that matter most to them.

This inaugural canvassing efforts mark the beginning of a series of monthly Days of Action that AFP-AL will be hosting throughout the state. The initiative is part of the organization’s grassroots mission to listen to Alabamians, elevate their voices, and build momentum for policy solutions that expand freedom and opportunity.

AFP-AL State Director Adam Thompson said:

“We’re excited to kick off our Days of Action here in Alabama. By knocking doors and having one-on-one conversations, we’re hearing directly from people about what challenges they face and what opportunities they want to see. This is just the start of a sustained effort to make sure policymakers put Alabama families first.”

In AFP-AL’s survey conducted during the Days of Action, 75% of respondents said the legislature should use excess revenue to permanently lower income taxes. When asked which issue is most important to them, an overwhelming 71% pointed to economic concerns, including taxes, the economy, government spending, and government regulation. These responses make clear that financial security and economic freedom are top of mind for Alabama families. While not intended as a scientific poll, AFP-AL’s survey provides a snapshot of the challenges and priorities that everyday Alabamians are voicing at the doors.

The North Alabama canvass focused on identifying community priorities, not in support of any particular candidate, but as part of AFP-AL’s long-term commitment to engage with voters, strengthen its grassroots network, and be ready to make an impact when Alabamians head to the polls.
