Montpelier, VT—Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) released the results of a statewide survey highlighting Vermonters’ views on affordability and cost-of-living issues for the 2026 legislative session.
The survey indicates that 87 percent find it extremely important for the legislature to prioritize action to make Vermont more affordable.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“This survey shows a clear and consistent message: Vermonters are experiencing an affordability problem. Unyielding property taxes and energy costs are making it hard for families and businesses to get by. Instead of temporary fixes or inaction, Vermonters want lasting reforms to make Vermont more affordable to live and work. Without action, Vermonters will be forced to shoulder an even higher cost of living than they do today. AFP thanks Governor Scott for his leadership and for consistently providing solutions to Vermont’s affordability crisis. We urge the legislative majority to stop being an obstacle and to work with the Governor to deliver results for Vermonters.”
