ARLINGTON, VA— Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today announced its support for H.R. 6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, legislation that takes important steps toward lowering health insurance premiums and expanding affordable, flexible health care options for working families.
The bill would codify workplace CHOICE arrangements, legalize employer Association Health Plans, and end insurers’ inflationary “silver loading” practices—reforms that could reduce premiums by double digits and improve portability and choice in employer-sponsored coverage.
“This legislation takes a solid first step in the right direction by reducing health insurance premiums and empowering consumers rather than insurers,” said Dean Clancy, AFP Senior Health Policy Fellow at Americans for Prosperity. “Legalizing Association Health Plans, curtailing insurer’s inflationary practices, and codifying CHOICE arrangements will bring down health care costs and expand families’ options, unlike the Democrats’ plan, which is simply to send more money to big health insurance companies without reducing premiums by a penny.”
Americans are demanding action as health insurance premiums and deductibles continue to rise and access to quality care declines. Recent AFP polling shows overwhelming support for lowering health care costs, expanding personalized care options, and directing subsidies to consumers instead of insurance companies.
“Voters are tired of Washington doubling down on failed policies that funnel taxpayer dollars to insurers while families struggle,” said Lauren Stewart, AFP Senior Federal Affairs Liaison at Americans for Prosperity. “This bill reflects a growing recognition among Republicans that we must reduce costs and fund patients—not insurance companies—and it stands in clear contrast to Democrats’ subsidy-first approach.”
