COLUMBIA, SC – Americans for Prosperity South Carolina (AFP-SC) issued a Key Vote Alert this morning urging state lawmakers to support H. 3021 / S.254, the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act. The bill would reform South Carolina’s regulatory environment, making it easier to run and start a business in South Carolina.

AFP-SC State Director Matt Humm released the following statement:

“H. 3021 will require that major regulatory reforms are reviewed and approved by the state legislature, the branch constitutionally responsible for making law. Importantly, it does not put regulatory reform and public safety in conflict with each other. Rather, this bill strengthens both by ensuring essential health and safety regulations rest on clear legislative authority and remain subject to ongoing oversight. Moreover, it will ensure that courts, not agencies, are responsible for interpreting the law as written.

“With more than 80,000 regulations already on the books in South Carolina, H. 3021 will empower small business owners in the state by simplifying the regulatory process.”
