Columbus, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) and Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) strongly support Senate Bill 3, legislation that would establish a 2.75% flat income tax rate. Today, S.B. 3 will be presented to the Senate Ways and Means Committee. AFP-OH and ATR believe the flat income tax will propel innovation, drive entrepreneurship, and foster economic prosperity across Ohio.
AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement in support of Ohio Senate Bill 3:
“At Americans for Prosperity, we have been at the forefront of promoting meaningful tax reform. Implementing a flat income tax is a leap in the right direction. Senate Bill 3 would provide relief for hard-working families and generate economic growth by allowing small business owners to choose whether to keep more of what they make or put it back into their businesses – spurring the potential to create tens of thousands of new jobs.
“We fully support S.B. 3 as it heads into the Senate Ways and Means committee hearing today, and we are eager to continue our work with lawmakers to promote common-sense tax reform.”
Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) President Grover Norquist offered the following statement in support of Ohio Senate Bill 3:
“States with low, or no income tax are booming and high-tax states are busting. We applaud Republicans for being part of this revolution and moving to a lower, flat income tax rate that will let Ohioans keep more of their hard-earned dollars, promote economic growth, and make it more difficult to raise taxes.
“This outstanding bill from Senators Lang and Huffman would give Ohio one of the lowest flat tax rates in the nation, behind only Arizona, and lower than neighboring Indiana.
“Ohio has been a tax cut leader for 20 years. This bill continues that leadership and has our strong support.”
