Concord, NH — Today, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) released the following statement following the House passage of HB 1542, a bill relative to renewable energy fund compliance payments. HB 1542 would rebate monies back to ratepayers from the Renewable Energy Fund (REF).

Greg Moore, AFP Regional Director, said:

“Granite Staters pay some of the highest electricity costs in the country, driven largely by bad policy decisions of our New England neighbors. Mandates, subsidies, and regulations continue escalating costs, and Granite Staters have had enough. They want greater affordability.

“To help New Hampshire families, HB 1542 will provide an immediate opportunity to lower costs and return green energy slush funds to ratepayers, providing savings on monthly electricity bills. We thank the House for passing this legislation to deliver lower costs for the Granite State.”

According to the Department of Energy, the REF represents approximately $6.7 million in costs that flow through to customers’ electric bills each year.
