Concord, NH — Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today voiced strong support for three pieces of legislation that would expand patient choice, lower health care costs, and position New Hampshire as a leader in medical innovation. HB 1562, HB 1734, and HB 1735 would increase access to affordable care options while empowering patients and physicians to pursue innovative treatments when traditional systems fall short.

AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott released the following statement:

The legislation that passed today represents a step towards a more patient-centered health care structure in the Granite State. Through expanding payment options, strengthening Right to Try protections, and creating new routes for innovative treatments, New Hampshire will encourage innovation, lower costs, and ensure Granite Staters have access to the care they need.

“We applaud the House for passing these policies that will allow patients to have more affordable health care options and invite innovation in New Hampshire’s health care system.

HB 1562 will allow licensing for health care facilities that operate on a direct payment model, enabling patients to pay providers directly without relying on third-party insurance billing. Current law requires facilities to accept Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance in order to obtain a license.
HB 1734 will authorize the establishment of experimental treatment centers, which will position New Hampshire as a hub for medical innovation and attract biotechnology investment.

HB 1735 will expand New Hampshire’s existing Right to Try law so that patients with severe or debilitating illnesses may access investigational treatments when approved options have failed.
